It was a very cold and windy day when i visited the mile high swinging bridge at the top of grandfather mountain. Unfortunately, i did not have a windscreen, so there is a bit of noise in the recording of the "singing" bridge. The reason i say "singing" is that the high winds were blowing through the 228-foot long suspension bridge bars making a haunting sort of song. It is considered the highest suspension footbridge in north america at just over a mile high.

I stood quite sheltered from the wind, above me the rustling trees from the breeze that was just blowing. In the distance a dog was barking. Nice stereo effect :-). The recording is edited. One of a series of heavily processed sounds i made using a small squeeze toy that just happens to be shaped like a cob of corn. I used s-layer, the sample-mangling plugin from twisted tools, to combine these swishy sounds with various other metallic and synthetic sounds from my own library. The results are dynamic and surprising, and might be useful for certain kinds of unusual ui sound design.
